Wis. Officials Dismiss Ethics Complaints Over Bill
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin ethics officials unanimously decided to dismiss all ethics complaints against both Republicans and Democrats for political maneuvers during the battle over a controversial anti-union bill.
A statement from the Government Accountability Board says complaints against Gov. Scott Walker for statements made during a prank phone call did not violate any ethics regulations. They also tossed complaints over restricted access to the state Capitol.
Officials also dismissed complaints that Walker and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald abused state resources to send Wisconsin State Patrol officers after senate Democrats that fled the state. Complaints against those Democrats for misuse of campaign funds were also thrown out.
The complaints all centered on tactics used during the month-long battle over a bill that curtails collective bargaining rights for most public employees.
