Wis. Man Charged With Hit-And-Run Of Bike Officer
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Mequon man is due in court next week on charges that he struck and injured a bicycle police officer with his van last week.
Forty-seven-year-old Vladimir Krivoshein is charged with hit-and-run injury and second-offense drunken driving causing injury. A preliminary hearing is set for Thursday.
Prosecutors say the officer was conducting a field interview Sept. 15 when Krivoshein sped by. The criminal complaint says the side mirror struck the officer in the chest and sent him sprawling.
Officers who arrested Krivoshein a few minutes later say he performed poorly on sobriety tests.
The complaint quotes Krivoshein as acknowledging that he took several swigs of vodka within the previous few hours. A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report says he has two prior convictions for intoxicated driving.
