Gov-Elect Tries To Coax Retirees To Return To Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin Gov.-elect Scott Walker says he wants to travel to Florida and Arizona to coax retirees back to the state.
Walker told a symposium of startup companies in Madison on Thursday morning that retirees are wonderful investors and he wants them to put their money into Wisconsin projects.
Walker says he wants to phase out taxes on retirement accounts and hold "welcome back" parties for Wisconsin retirees in places like Naples, Fla., and Sedona, Ariz., to persuade them to return to Wisconsin.
Walker did not offer details and left the symposium without taking questions from reporters.
