Wis. Dems: GOP Trying To Extinguish Way Of Life
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin's Democratic Party says Republicans taking over control of the Legislature and governor's office are trying to extinguish Wisconsin's way of life.
Gov. Scott Walker and new Republican majorities in the Senate and Assembly take office on Monday.
The Democratic Party says it will unveil what it calls an aggressive Internet and social media strategy on Tuesday to target freshmen Republican lawmakers.
Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate says the heart of the Republican agenda is an assault on Wisconsin's modern economy and an attempt to lower the state's standards.
Walker and Republicans have talked about repealing numerous tax increases passed recently by Democrats and cutting taxes for small businesses.
Democrats say they will tap more than 15,000 volunteers to counter any Republican proposals not targeting improving the state's economy.
