Winter Storm Warning For Northern Minnesota
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Even though the calendar says spring, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northern Minnesota.
The spring storm has produced about 8 inches of snow in Two Harbors, 6 inches in Breckenridge and 5 1/2 inches in Park Rapids.
The state Department of Transportation reported difficult driving conditions across northern Minnesota Monday. Some schools called off classes, including Maple Valley and Fairmount.
The storm caused major travel disruptions Sunday, where the snow started earlier and was forecast to be much heavier. Authorities in northwestern Minnesota were kept busy rounding up pigs along Interstate 94 after a semitrailer crash closed part of the highway near Barnesville.
The National Weather Service says as much as a foot and a half of snow fell in western and central North Dakota and northern South Dakota Sunday.
