Winter Storm Coming Saturday Night?
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The first significant winter storm of the winter season could be on its way to Minnesota by Saturday night.
WCCO-TV Meteorologist Matt Brickman says a storm is headed our way for New Year's Eve, and it could be at its peak by the stroke of midnight. We expect the high temperature Saturday to be in the low 40s and precipitation could start by the early evening hours in the form of rain.
It is expected to change over to snow later on tonight, and things get really interesting as the winds will pick up. There could be wind gusts late Saturday night and into Sunday as high as 50 miles per hour.
We are expecting 2 to 5 inches of snow to start falling around dinner time or just after, and a winter storm warning has been issued for the seven county Twin Cities metro area by the National Weather Service.
