Winona Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting At Imaginary People
WINONA, Minn. (WCCO) – A man was arrested in Winona Thursday night after he was allegedly shooting at people who police said did not exist.
Aaron Gregory Rudolphi, 28, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, first degree criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and loaded/uncased firearm in a motor vehicle.
Winona Police Department responded to multiple calls reporting gun shots around 7:43 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Center Street.
Upon their arrival they found two individuals in a vehicle parked in an alley.
According to police, the passenger, Rudolphi, told them that he had been shooting at people near a fence across from the alley.
Officers determined the people referenced by Rudolphi did not exist.
The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, said she had been concerned about Rudolphi and came to pick him up.
According to police, she had convinced him to put away the gun and told officers to look for it in the trunk where they found the gun and ammunition.
No one was injured, but the shots did damage a fence and ground tarp belonging to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Police said the damage was approximately $1,000 worth.
Police arrested Rudolphi, who they said had been drinking alcohol, and took him to Winona County Jail.
There are no charges against the driver.
