Williams, Playing New Spot, Helps Vikes D Step Up
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Kevin Williams was already one of the most revered players on Minnesota's roster.
Then the 33-year-old produced one of the most memorable performances of his decorated career.
Williams had 2½ sacks in the second half of Thursday night's win over the Washington Redskins. He did that while playing mostly at nose tackle instead of the under tackle spot where has spent most of his 11 seasons in the NFL.
Williams is a former first-round draft pick of the Vikings in the final year of his contract. He was one of a few veterans who expressed concern about the play calls following a loss the week before to the Dallas Cowboys.
