Wild Make NHL Playoffs With Win Friday Against Edmonton
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – It's easy to get caught up in what's going on around you when you're trying to get to the playoffs, but it's a simple formula for the Minnesota Wild.
Beat the Edmonton Oilers Friday night, and the Wild is a playoff team. It would be the team's first playoff berth since 2008. The Wild could've clinched a playoff berth Thursday night, but the Columbus Bluejackets stayed alive with a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars.
The Wild has two games left and is currently eighth in the Western Conference with 53 points. They're one point behind the Red Wings, but can move up to seventh with a win Friday night against the Oilers. The puck drops at about 7 p.m. The Wild finishes the regular season Saturday at Colorado.
Minnesota Wild officials said single-game tickets for the first round of the Western Conference playoffs go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Xcel Energy Center box office. They also go on sale online at noon.
