White, Taylor Among Wolves Draft Workout Invites Tuesday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Timberwolves are hosting six players at the Target Center on Tuesday as part of a pre-NBA Draft workout, and two of them are local talents.
Minneapolis natives Royce White and Jordan Taylor will be among the players at the Lifetime Fitness Training Center in downtown Minneapolis. White played for DeLaSalle before finishing his high school career at Hopkins. He first enrolled at the University of Minnesota, but never played a game for the Gophers after being consumed with legal troubles.
White transferred to Iowa State, where he became one of the top players in the Big 12 Conference in just one season. After leading the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament, he decided to leave school and opt for the NBA Draft. He is expected to be a first-round selection.
Taylor, who was a star point guard at Benilde-St. Margaret's, went on to play at Wisconsin under Bo Ryan. He became a standout player and one of the best point guards in the Big 10 Conference his last two seasons.
Other workout invitees include Michigan State forward Draymond Green, New Mexico forward Drew Gordon, Oakland University guard Reggie Hamilton and Seton Hall forward Herb Pope.
The Timberwolves have the 18th pick in the first round of the NBA Draft, which is June 28, after the Utah Jazz reached the playoffs this year.
