What's Tom Brunansky 'The Coach' Going To Be Like?
FORT MYERS, Fla. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Twins employ a field of dreams coaching staff.
There's Hall of Famer, seven-time batting champ, and 18-time All-Star Rod Carew, then there's Hall of Famer and seven-time All-Star Paul Molitor, and don't forget new full-time catching and bench coach Terry Steinbach, a three-time All-Star.
Also, one of most popular Twins on the coaching staff -- having won the World Series in 1987 -- is hitting instructor Tom Brunansky.
His approach to communicating is one he learned from the likes of Kirby Puckett.
"Learn what they think and they feel," he said. "You have to ask them questions."
After retiring in 1994, he was away from the game for 17 years.
His goal as the new hitting instructor is to not to make it too complicated.
"The game is simple -- we make it difficult," he said. "With all the information out there, there's so much for stats. We think too much. We need to keep it as simple as we can."
