Get Ready For Winter To Make A Grand Entrance
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- After a pretty quiet November, the Twin Cities is seeing all the makings of its first significant snow event of the season.
WCCO meteorologist Matt Brickman said rounds of wintry precipitation will move through the metro over the next few days, the first of which will come Monday afternoon.
Brickman said the Twin Cities can expect mainly snow Monday afternoon and evening, but freezing drizzle and perhaps even some sleet could mix in overnight into Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, snow has already started in northeastern Minnesota with more to follow later Monday as another band of snow spreads into the area. The storm could possibly bring more than a foot to the area.
Brickman said Tuesday will see cold rain during much of the day, but that will turn over to snow by Tuesday night ans carry into Wednesday morning.
All told, the metro should see anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of snow by Wednesday morning. Northeastern Minnesota could get between 10 and 15 inches.
Northwestern Wisconsin may see 8 to 12 inches.
Temperatures are expected to be in the teens on Thursday morning before tumbling. Lows should fall well below zero Thursday night.
Going into the weekend, the wind chill figures could approach 20 to 30 below zero in the Twin Cities.
