Now that it's finally starting to look and feel more like winter, it's time to get out and enjoy it. No question all those snowmobilers, skiers and snowboarders are ready. Rachel Slavik traveled to Trollhaugen Outdoor Recreation Area in Dresser, Wisconsin Saturday for some intense tubbing!
If you're looking for a fun and funny way to ring in the new year, how about spending the night with Lizz Winstead? The comedian and co-creator of "The Daily Show" will be in town for her annual comedic year in review. "Lizz Miserables: A Hilarious, Tragic Review of 2015" will have two shows: one on Wednesday, Dec. 30 and another on New Year's Eve. Both will be at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis. You can celebrate Kwanzaa Saturday by heading over to the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. They will be hosting a family gathering that focuses on the seven principles of the holiday. You can see live musical performances, dances and other demonstrations. The Kwanzaa Family Day runs from noon until 4 p.m. and it's free with the price of admission to the museum.
There are a ton of great movies in theaters right now, and nothing quite beats that experience you get from the big screen. That's why WCCO went searching for the best movie theater in Minnesota. Your votes sent Natalie Nyhus to what was once called "the jewel of southwestern Minnesota" -- The Canby Theater in Canby. In addition to new releases, manager Mike Tesch puts together movie series, like a Hitchcock-themed weekend and a classics series featuring favorites like "Gone with the Wind." Canby is about three hours west of the Twin Cities.
This is your last chance this season to see "A Christmas Carol" at the Guthrie Theater in downtown Minneapolis. It's the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. The show runs through Sunday, and it's playing at the Guthrie's Wurtele Thrust Stage. And with 2015 on the way out, Mike Augustyniak is thinking about champagne -- and new skills for the new year. Next weekend you can get both at 6Smith in Wayzata during one of their monthly Craft Cocktail Classes. The theme for January -- and the latest edition of Mike's Mix -- is winter classics. The class will feature three cocktails, and will include snacks and samples. It takes place next Saturday, and you must be 21 to attend.
