WCCO 4 At The Fair: Day 6
FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- It's Military Appreciation Day at the Minnesota State Fair.
Earlier Tuesday, there was a moving tribute to the military at the Leinie's Bandshell.
The American flag was raised during the singing of our national anthem. Then, there was a Vietnam Veteran's parade to Carousel Park for a special tribute concert.
Active and retired military members can get into the fair today for just $7.
Part 1: Mr. Cooley Towel | Krazy Maze
We're all looking for ways to beat the heat out here. That's why one booth in the Grandstand is very popular. We chat with Jessica from Mr. Cooley Towel.
And if you're looking for a fun challenge -- there's a new attraction in Adventure Park this year that will put your wits to the test. Mark Rosen, Chris Shaffer, Frank Vascellaro and Amelia Santaniello battled it out to see who could make it the fastest through the Krazy Maze.
Part 2: Animal Calls | Mounted Patrol Officers
It's the second round of the Agrilympics. Our gold medal team from last year is training in new competitors this time around. That includes animal calls. Two-time champion Chris Shaffer is passing his knowledge to first-timer Jamie Yuccas.
Plus, we have some special guests stop by -- St. Paul Mounted Patrol Officers Andrew Lewis and Gerry Johnson with their horses Cowboy and Chase.
Part 3: Garrett's Chickens | Daily Dance Off!
Chickens aren't just for the barnyard anymore, lots of people are raising them in urban areas. That includes 'CCO photojournalist Garrett Young, who brought his flock to the fair.
Plus, we check out the contestants for today's Daily Dance Off!
Part 4: Day In The Life: Gopher Ice
With today's temps in the 90s, one of the best ways to cool down at the fair is with an ice-cold rootbeer or lemonade. But how do all of the fair vendors keep their food and drinks cold? Natalie Nyhus from our WCCO This Morning show found out there's one and only one place.
Part 5: Daily Dance Off Results
We find out who won the Daily Dance Off.
Part 6: Reading Boston Terrier | Pork Rinds
Kids are going back to school to learn to read but we have Boston Terrier who already can. Barbara is here with her dog Kohtah.
Jason DeRusha tries pork rinds at Famous Dave's and learns about how they're made.
Part 7: Interview With Hanson LIVE!
A very special appearance from the Kings of MmmBop -- Hanson. The three brothers talk about their performances at the fair and what they're up to today.
Plus, you'll never guess who's stopping by WCCO 4 At The Fair tomorrow.

This year at the Great Minnesota Get-Together, WCCO-TV is once again putting your meteorology skills to the test.
This year's theme is all about weather and our amazing weather team.
Fairgoers will have a chance to "become" a meteorologist for a day – putting their skills to the test to report the weather as a fair forecaster in front of a large, touch-screen TV, incorporated with special effects.
In addition to testing your meteorology skills, fairgoers will have the opportunity to experiment with the Chroma Key, a special effects green screen used during weather forecasts.
Are you apart of our Weather Watcher Network? Come to the WCCO-TV Fair Forecaster booth to get the latest weather updates and try out the Weather Watcher Network program our meteorologists use on-air.
We'll also be giving away free "Weather is Our Nature" bags to every guest that visits our WCCO-TV Fair Forecaster booth during the designated bag giveaway times – 10:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
Outside of the WCCO-TV booth, fairgoers will have the opportunity to check out WCCO's Mobile Weather Watcher, a state-of-the-art weather-tracking machine.
And as always, your favorite WCCO anchors and reporters will be on hand to take photos with fans and fair guests during several daily photograph sessions.
And be sure to get a good seat to watch the LIVE broadcasts – at noon, 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The WCCO-TV booth is at the corner of Carnes Ave. and Nelson St.
We can't wait for you to join us at the fair!
