Water Recedes In SW Minn., Eastbound I-90 Reopens

LUVERNE, Minn. (AP) — The water has been going down in southwestern Minnesota, where officials closed all four lanes of Interstate 90 from Luverne to the South Dakota border.

KELO-TV reports that officials re-opened the eastbound lanes of the interstate around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Water up to four feet high from heavy rains covered the freeway earlier in the morning.

Heavy rain washed away the spillway at Blue Mounds State Park, north of Luverne. The dam holds back water for a swimming pond in the park. The water drains into the Rock River, which flows through Luverne.

Secondary roads and farm fields were underwater elsewhere in Rock County Sunday. A road crew rescued one vehicle stranded near the town of Hills on Sunday morning.
