Water Main Break Sends Water Soaring In Coon Rapids
COON RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO) – City crews in Coon Rapids were left with plenty of clean-up to do Tuesday night after a water main break, officials said.
Authorities said the break happened at about 7 p.m. near the 100 block of 122nd Avenue NW in Coon Rapids and sent water shooting seven to eight feet in the air at times. City officials said the water was shut off in the area at 7:30 p.m.
Cold temperatures caused the water that had spilled onto streets in the area to freeze. Officials said less than a dozen homes were without water overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, and they expected service to be back around 5 a.m.
City officials said the water main break was likely cold weather related as it was their second issue of the day.
