Lakeville School Closed For The Year After Water Main Break
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Elementary school students and staff in Lakeville, Minn. had to evacuate to another school after a water main break caused a considerable amount of damage. Now, the school district says the school will be closed for the rest of the year.
Lakeville School District spokeswoman Linda Swanson says the break happened around 8:30 a.m. inside the Cherry View Elementary. No one was injured.
Students were taken to Crystal Lake Elementary to wait for their parents to pick them up.
After structural engineers assessed the school, the decision was made to close the building for the remainder of the year.
Students will be relocated to these locations Thursday: Kindergarten and first-grade to Lake Marion Elementary, second-grade, A+ and multi-categorical students to Christina Huddleston Elementary, third- and fourth-grade to Eastview Elementary, fifth-grade to Kenwood Trail Middle School with a separate entrance, hallways and bathrooms.
Personal belongings of the students' will be moved to their assigned locations.
