Water Main Break Caused Burnsville Sinkhole
BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) -- A sinkhole that opened up Wednesday night in Burnsville could cause some big problems for people trying to get to work Thursday.
Crews in Burnsville worked overnight near the intersection of County Road 11 and Interstate 35E to fix the hole.
It spans about 30-feet by 30-feet and takes up two lanes of traffic.
Crews said it was caused by a water main break.
Some neighboring businesses -- a hair salon, a Subway restaurant and a floral shop -- are without water Thursday morning because of it.
Crews are trying to get the water back on soon so they can reopen for business.
One of the crew members said the goal is to get the entire road back open Thursday, but they don't have timeline of exactly when because there is still so much work to do.
They've opened the northbound side of CR 11 and are letting traffic go through. That will help a bit, but they are still urging those that live in Burnsville to find alternate routes.
