Washburn Star RB Jeff Jones Has Eyes On 2,000 Yards
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One player to watch in the metro area -- Minneapolis Washburn's Jeff Jones.
He's a football player, he's an athlete, and he's got some gifts you cannot teach.
Watch him on the football field and it becomes a game of "catch me if you can."
"Once you get the ball you start to get into the flow and get to know what the defense is doing, and that's what I look for in film," Jones said.
He has that special something.
"He makes coaching very fun," coach Giovan Jenkins. "He does things you and I can't do."
He can beat you in many ways. It's what happens when you've played varsity since your freshman year.
His style is reminiscent of NFL star Marshawn Lynch.
His goal, and his coach's goal is to rush for more than 2,000 yards.
"I'd love to see him eclipse that, because right now I don't think there's a kid in teh state who's come close to it," Jenkins said.
He made a verbal commitment to Jerry Kill and the Gophers, but he's decided to re-consider because a whole lot of other teams are interested.
"I love the staff over there and I could see myself going there definitely -- I'm going to take my five visits and see which one's right for me," he said.
