Wander Minnesota: What's Open, When On Black Friday
It's almost Black Friday—have you made your shopping plans yet? If not, here are just a few of the starting times for retailers large and small around the metro, including some that will be open on Thanksgiving itself.
It never hurts to call the specific branch of the retailer you're interested in to make sure they're participating in the special hours—otherwise that alarm clock could be all for naught.
In Uptown, Magers & Quinn Booksellers will be open 1-9 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and are offering 20 percent off everything in the store. This can be your after-dinner plan; if you want to shop before, Sears will be open from 7 a.m.-noon.
But don't worry—just because Magers & Quinn is closing at 9 p.m. doesn't mean you have to wait much longer to shop. Toys 'R' Us will greet shoppers at 10 p.m. Wal-Mart follows a bit later, at midnight.
Black Friday gets off to a very early (or late?) start for Kohls stores, which will open at 3 a.m. They'll be followed soon by Macy's, JCPenney, and Target, all open at 4 a.m.
Coming in a bit on the late side is Best Buy, not opening until 5 a.m.
If you want early access to a bunch of stores at once, your best bet is to make your way to a mall. The Mall of America opens at 6 a.m. Friday, but Eden Prairie Center will already be open by then, with shopping beginning at 5 a.m., as do Southdale and Rosedale.
If you have any stamina left after visiting all those places, Edina's Galleria opens at 9 a.m.
