Wander Minnesota: Halloween Around Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Halloween is almost here. Last week I took a look at not-so-scary Hallween events around the Twin Cities. This week, let's take a look at a sampling of Halloween events around the state.
Glenwood's Fright Nights is held Friday and Saturday night and is an indoor event, definitely for the strong of heart (and not recommended for those under 13). However, Saturday afternoon from 4-6 is a family, non-scary event—bring the little ones without worry.
In Duluth, the William A. Irvin offers Haunted Ship Tours daily through Halloween (closed Monday). This self-guided tour through the maze of a ship has supernatural happenings that are part of the act—or are they? Visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Farmamerica in Waseca invites you to All Hallow's Eve on 10/26. This is a scare-free family event, with trick-or-treating, a magic show, games, and pumpkin carving.
Oct. 26 marks the opening of the week-long Red Wing Pumpkin Show. More than 150 elaborately carved pumpkins will be on display, right along the river at Broad Street and Levee Road. There will be additional events on the afternoon of 10/26 as well.
Hope for good weather on Saturday, because the Afton Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail is an outdoor event. Follow the St. Croix Trail into Afton for trick-or-treating, crafts, and games.
Do you dare to enter the Monster Manor in Sauk Centre? Open Friday and Saturday night at the Stearns County Fairground and in its 31st year, brace yourself for a scary good time. (Not for children under 5.)
Maybe you'd rather take a ride through horror. Northfield has you covered with its Haunted Ghosttown Hayride. Death! Decay! Creatures of the night! Also, hot cider, s'mores, and a campfire. Not for kids under 12, and reservations required.
Get your Halloween on, and do it for a good cause. Rochester Public Schools is hosting the third annual Haunted Hallways, evenings Thurs.-Sun. There's something for all ages—the Hall of Fun is scare-free, while the Hall of Haunts and Hall of Horrors require more in the line of courage. Proceeds benefit the schools.
