Wander Minnesota: After Thanksgiving Dinner
Going out for a Thanksgiving buffet? Having a massive meal at home? Either way, once you're done eating and have enjoyed the Turkey Day after-meal nap, what else is there to do?
Check out a movie. Most movie theaters will be open Thursday, many running their weekend schedules. Others, like the Riverview Theater, will open later in the afternoon. (Because by then, you might be getting hungry again, and the Riverview has some excellent popcorn.)
The Parkway Theater will have evenings showings too, but note: while the theater is connected to Pepito's, the latter won't be serving its usual menu on Thursday, but providing a traditional Thanksgiving menu instead.
There won't be any live shows at Bryant-Lake Bowl; however, the bowling lanes open at 5 p.m. that day. In St. Louis Park, Park Tavern will be open for bowling on Thanksgiving, but note that attendees of the Tavern's Thanksgiving Day brunch will be given an hour of bowling with their meal, meaning the hours during and just after the brunch (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) may be pretty crowded.
Or you can wander out to Apple Valley and visit Bogart's Place Bowl, which has as its bonus feature the Double Dittys Dueling Pianos Party.
Feel like you could stand to be a bit more active? The Waterpark of America will be open most of the day,
Maybe skating sounds more fun. Fortunately, The Depot opens for the season this Wednesday and will be open all day Thursday.
Believe it or not, ski season is upon us too. Afton Alps will be open all day, while in Taylors Falls, Wild Mountain will be open just until 3 p.m.
Since it's possible that the weather might actually be nice on Thanksgiving this year, remember: all Minnesota State Parks are open 365 days a year. What better way to feel thankful than by exploring one of these beautiful places?
