Volunteers Focus On Maplewood Park In Kira Trevino Search
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (WCCO) - After more than two weeks, the volunteer search for Kira Trevino's body is still going strong.
Searcher Ben Lilly wore wader as he sprobed a river in Keller Park Sunday. He and his wife were friends with Kira since high school.
"Hopefully the ice goes out soon and there's no snow on the ground. Makes it a little easier. Gotta start somewhere," Lilly said.
He described his friend as a "bubbly, fun loving girl."
St. Paul Police say they have received a new piece of evidence, but they won't say what. Searchers say it's enough to keep them fighting the odds, sifting through rivers and searching through snow.
Lillie says he's searching for items like clothing and shopping bags. And even though they've seen the occasional signs of hope, they haven't found the feeling they are looking for – closure.
"Not enough to listen to police and hear what they have to say. Gotta be out there for yourself," he said.
