Vikings Withdrawing Request To Rename Chicago Avenue
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota vikings say they will not pursue further their request to rename a street near their new stadium.
On WCCO Radio, Vikings vice president Lester Bagley said that the team would stop trying to switch the name of Chicago Avenue to "Vikings Way."
At City Hall Monday evening, the Minneapolis Planning Commission did not approve the Vikings proposal. Though the team could have still appealed the decision to a City Council Planning Committee or the Zoning Committee, Bagley said they would not.
The team was not excited about the idea of a major street near their new stadium being named after the city that hosts one of their primary rivals.
