Vikes Player Arrested In Beating Released From Jail, Team
ANOKA, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings player accused of brutally beating a man over the weekend has been released from jail. Soon after, the Vikings announced he was waived from their roster.
The Anoka County Attorney's Office had a deadline of 9 a.m. Tuesday to file charges against Caleb King in the case.
As prosecutors did not file charges, King was released from jail.
Investigators said King, who is a running back with the Vikings, beat 22-year-old Andrew Eagle so badly, the man required 50 stitches to his head and may have a brain injury.
Eagle says he was at a party with King in Oak Grove on Friday night, where King allegedly hit him and threw him to the ground headfirst when he tried to leave. Eagle's family says he's hospitalized with a skull fracture.
King told investigators that Eagle fell when they were talking.
Even though King is now out of jail, charges are still possible against him. The investigation is ongoing.
The Minnesota Vikings announced late Tuesday afternoon that they had waived King.
