Vikings Pick Peterson As Community Man Of Year
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Adrian Peterson has been picked as the Minnesota Vikings Community Man of the Year for 2012.
The Vikings announced the annual award on Monday.
Peterson is scheduled to be honored at an event on Tuesday night at the Sports Authority in Eden Prairie near Vikings headquarters. Peterson and several of his teammates will help kids from Special Olympics shop for athletic gear with gift cards provided by the store.
Vikings executive director of community relations Brad Madson says he's never seen a player more "kind, positive and humble to be around." Peterson's foundation raises awareness and funds for programs designed to help at-risk youth. The star running back is in his sixth season with the Vikings.
