Vikings Game Against Bears Will Be Decided By QBs
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- All of the sudden the Vikings have some hope going into Sunday night's game at Chicago.
The Bears have struggled with Julius Peppers injured and his status uncertain. The Vikings just won a game and have confidence, but you can boil this one down to what just about every game comes down to: Quarterback play.
The Vikings have seen Jay Cutler enough times to know it: His team is not playing well, but he is capable.
"He's capable of taking a game over, and we're well aware of what he's done in his past and the success that he's had," said Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier. "We're going to really have to be on our Ps and Qs and play our best football game in the secondary I think."
Cutler's biggest nemesis might be his offensive line, which means the Vikings will try and duplicate what the Lions did against them Sunday night. It could mean a big game for already hungry defensive linemen in Jared Allen and Brian Robison, who each had huge games in the Vikings win over the Arizona Cardinals.
"That's Minnesota's game. They're going to play cover 2, going to play some zone and let that front four go to work. We're going to have to find a way to block them," said Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
While this game could be a battle between the Vikings pass rush and a suspect Chicago Bears' offensive line, it always comes down to the play of quarterbacks. Donovan McNabb has been trying to figure out exactly where he fits.
And McNabb has not performed at a high level. The question that comes up is that of his mechanics.
"The whole mechanics thing is really something that I haven't changed or anything to that nature," McNabb said.
He is a veteran, which means he feels the heat of the Vikings fans. He just won't concede to it, won't give into it and won't acknowledge the shortcomings.
"We're going to stay aggressive and try to put more points on the board if that's what they're looking for. Most importantly it's going to be a lot of positive plays out there," McNabb said.
