Vikings Focus On The Field, Not Personal Feelings Following AP Suspension
EDEN PRAIRIE (WCCO) -- Instead of focusing on their team's best player's suspension, the Minnesota Vikings are getting ready for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.
At a press conference Wednesday, Minnesota Vikings head Coach Mike Zimmer says he supports running back Adrian Peterson, but nothing has really changed.
"We're taking it one day at a time. We go by the cards that we're dealt," Zimmer said.
The news came down Tuesday that Peterson had been suspended from the Minnesota Vikings for at least the remainder of the 2014 NFL season. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says Peterson won't be considered for reinstatement before April 15.
It all stems from Peterson disciplining his son with a wooden switch in May. He pleaded no contest on Nov. 4 in state court in Montgomery County, Texas to reckless assault of the child.
Now, Peterson plans to appeal the league's decision.
Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater also talked at the press conference, saying "Adrian is a great guy and we will have to continue without him."
Bridgewater said the team has won some games with and without Peterson and at this point, they can't have a dark cloud over the team.
"It's out of our hands," he said.
Bridgewater's teammate echoed his thoughts Wednesday.
"Obviously it kind of stinks seeing the situation and the judgment that Goodell used, but we have to live with it. And we have to move forward." Vikings defensive end Brian Robison said.
