Vikings Fans React To New Stadium Design

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Vikings unveiled designs for their new football stadium Monday night to a packed house at the Guthrie Theater.

Team officials said the construction phase will start later this year in October and the Vikings will be able to play in the new facility in time for the start of the 2016 season. The Vikings will play the 2014 and and 2015 seasons at TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota while the stadium is being built.

The stadium does not feature a retractable roof, but it lets in plenty of sunlight with windows on the roof and an angled roof so snow can't built up like it did on the Metrodome's Teflon roof. It will also feature wider concourses for easier fan travel flow and some of the biggest video boards in all of football.

We asked Vikings fans what they thought of the designs after they were unveiled.

Troy on Facebook said it's "uniquely awesome. Many jealous Packer fans on Facebook tonight. Can't wait to see the real thing, drawings never hold a candle to the real thing."

David said, "The Viking Ship I hope it is called. This is Norsk design if I ever saw Norsk design. God job Zygi!"
