Vikings Fans Gearing Up For Border Battle In Green Bay
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Vikings may have secured a playoff spot but there is still a lot at stake this Sunday.
The purple and gold head to Green Bay for the final game of the regular season. The NFC North championship is on the line with both teams tied this season at 10 and 5.
It's been six years since the Vikings were NFC North Champions and fans plan to travel to Green Bay with the hopes of seeing a win.
Every Vikings fan has a different way of showing team loyalty.
"I'm a huge Vikings fan. I've laughed, I've cried," Will Kleidon said.
For Kleidon, purple and gold are part of his daily life. His living room is filled with Vikings memorabilia, from blankets to footballs and everything in between. This Sunday, he'll travel to Lambeau Field with the hope of cheering his team to victory.
"I think we have a great chance of winning Green Bay this time," Kleidon said.
Kleidon will be wearing much more than purple and gold. He'll be decked out in the "Jason" inspired outfit he wears during every game.
He plans to go all out in his Vikings gear because, with the NFC North Championship on the line, that 12th man in the stands can be crucial.
"We do a lot of screaming and there are a lot of voices missing on Monday," Kleidon said.
Kleidon won't be the lone Vikings fan in Lambeau, purple pride is not confined to state boundaries.
"The Packers are going down. We have a good team this year," said Savannah Trimmer, a Vikings fan.
A good sports fan knows when entering enemy territory, there's strength in numbers.
"I'm going to be obnoxious and I've been told not to be at Lambeau, but I'm going to," said Ashley Eide, a Vikings fan.
After all, Vikings fans have a heritage built on reaping their own rewards and, in this case, fans hope it means leaving Lambeau with a win.
"I can't wait to see them win the NFC North," Kleidon said.
The Vikings are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs regardless of Sunday's final regular season game. If they beat the Packers, they will play Seattle in a wild card game in Minneapolis. If they lose on Sunday, they will be on the road either in Washington or return to Green Bay.
