Vikings Fans Deal With New NFL Bag Rule
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Vikings fans are in store for changes at the ticket gate this season.
The NFL made a decision in May, following the bombings at the Boston Marathon, to ban most bags and purses from stadiums.
The new rules mean fans can only bring in a purse if it's a small handbag or clutch, or unless it's a clear bag.
Backpacks, diaper bags, and fanny packs are not allowed.
"Initially I though it was overkill," said longtime season ticket holder Larry Spooner. "But the fact is, it's pretty hard to argue against safety."
Signs are posted around the outside of the Metrodome with the specifics.
The Vikings have a plan for those fans who bring an item that's no longer allowed -- they can check it at the gate and pick it up when the game is over.
The Vikings say they will have this available for the next several games as fans get used to the changes.
