Vigil Held For Missing Oakdale Woman
WOODBURY, Minn. (WCCO) - Danielle Jelinek was remembered Monday night, more than a week after she disappeared. Without an arrest in the case, Danielle's friends and family are praying for answers.
A vigil was held at Five Oaks Church in Woodbury for the 27-year-old from Oakdale, who was last seen December 9 at a house in Chisago Township.
For several days, hundreds searched for any sign of her. Authorities found her shoes, purse and phone inside the house of her ex-boyfriend Aaron Schnagl. Besides here possession, investigators also found 13 pounds of marijuana.
Traces of blood were also found, and have been sent to a lab for testing.
Schnagl told investigators they were drinking and doing drugs the night before Jelinek went missing, and that she stayed over and was gone in the morning.
According to court documents, Schnagl texted one of Jelinek's friends, "Danielle she took off on foot last night she was all messed up it's snowing I'm worried."
Three days later, investigators received a call from a concerned citizen claiming Schnagl had told someone Jelinek had overdosed. Schnagl hasn't been cooperating with authorities, who say parts of his story keep changing.
Jelinek's family told investigators Schnagl has been abusive in the past, giving her blacks eyes and a fat lip.
He is still a "person of interest" in the case and is in custody on drug charges after the search of his home turned up marijuana, a digital scale, and baggies.
Schnagl also had cocaine in his system when he was arrested. His business partner told investigators they sold drugs because their business "Good Guys Automotive Group" was struggling.
