Video, Audio Recordings Detail Little Falls Deaths
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Video and audio recordings could shed light on what happened during a confrontation with a homeowner that left two teenagers dead.
Byron Smith is charged with murdering Nick Brady and Haile Kifer after they broke into his home near Little Falls on Thanksgiving.
Smith says he was fearful during the burglary.
Prosecutors say he went too far by killing the cousins after he'd shot and wounded them.
Search warrants say a surveillance system at the home recorded video of the break-in.
Those documents also say a different recorder captured audio of the shootings.
Investigators say Smith told them he waited a day to report the killings because it was a holiday.
The newly-released search warrants say he had blood on his clothes and shoes when officers showed up the next day.
Investigators say Brady and Kifer had broken into another home they day before the shootings.
