Vandals Attack Vacation Home Of Dentist Who Killed Cecil
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in southwest Florida are investigating after the vacation home for the Minnesota dentist identified as the hunter who killed Cecil the lion was vandalized.
Vandals spray painted the words "lion killer" on the garage door of the Marco Island residence. Pickled pigs feet and cups of animal crackers were also left on the property.
A security company has been hired to protect the $1.1 million home. Last week, someone left a handmade sign criticizing Palmer.
"It's pretty sad. Anyone that's left posters or something on the floor -- teddy bears -- that's one thing. But spray painting and graffiti is below-the-belt," said Mark Sims, who works for the British paper The Daily Mail.
At this point, there's still no word on where Walter Palmer is during the investigation into the Zimbabwe hunt. His attorney last week contacted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, who were investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the trial for Theo Bronkhorst -- one of the guides involved in the incident -- has been postponed.
