Utility Crews Making Progress On Power Outages
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Xcel Energy crews are concentrating on restoring power to the final Minnesota customers still without electricity after last weekend's storms.
Xcel said Tuesday afternoon that crews have finished work in St. Cloud and the eastern Twin Cities. Crews are now focusing on getting power back on for 13,000 customers mainly in Minneapolis and its suburbs.
The Minneapolis-based utility says crews have restored service to 592,600 customers. That's 97 percent of the 610,000 customers who were without service at the peak of the outages.
Xcel Energy says it expects to restore power to the vast majority of its customers who are still out by late Wednesday night.
