Uptown Irish Pub Hopes To Find Its Niche, Opens Right In Time
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Imagine launching an Irish-themed business during this weekend's madness.
That's what four Twin Cities buddies are doing.
Morrissey's will be the first Irish pub to open in Uptown Minneapolis, and can be found on Lake Street between Bryant and South Colfax.
If history is an indicator, staying in business may be a challenge, but they have a plan.
"You make your own luck," Scott Schuler said. "Having Irish guys with me isn't a bad thing ... luck of the Irish."
And that's what the owners are going to need, as Business Week says one in four new restaurants fail.
The past few businesses at Morrissey's location have had to close their doors, but their niche of whiskey cocktails is something they're trying to cash in on. That and bringing in a type of music this part of town's never seen.
"We got a pretty big selection at the moment," Schuler said. "We're hoping to turn into a whiskey bible."
The pub opens its doors officially at noon on Saturday.
