Unity Church's Black Friday Service Benefits BLM
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – For eight years, Unity Church in St. Paul has had a Black Friday service.
Friday morning, that service was titled "The Cost of Justice."
A Black Lives Matter banner hung outside the church. BLM will also receive a portion of Friday's offering.
"So even in this day we're seeing consumerism begin to now enslave black and brown bodies, by not allowing people to have adequate and fair wages. 15 NOW is something that we're definitely pressing, that's part of the cost of justice that we're paying," Pastor Danny Givens Jr. said.
Givens Jr. said a $15-an-hour wage would help lift many people out of poverty.
