Undrafted QB Lives The Dream At Vikings Rookie Camp
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The undrafted local hopefuls are another faction that contributes to the experience of rookie camp.
Spencer Ohm grew up in Blooming Prairie, Minn. And he grew into a good quarterback at Concordia University in St. Paul, where he put up impressive numbers in his college career.
Over the weekend, Ohm got to live a quarterback's dream.
"It was something I've dreamed of since I was a little kid," Ohm said. "And once I got the call, it was really exciting."
What the Vikings are looking for in quarterback position is what he wants to be. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team needs leaders who can take command of both the team and the situation on the football field.
For Ohm, being a leader means playing like his favorite Vikings quarterback, Brett Favre.
"Who doesn't want to be like Brett Favre when you put on this red jersey," he said.
No matter what happens between Sunday and the rest of his football career, Ohm will always look back and feel good about his time at rookie camp.
"There's a long road ahead," he said. "But it's still something I'm going to embrace, regardless."
