UCare Lays Off A Third Of Its Employees
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One of Minnesota's largest health care insurers, UCare, is laying off nearly a third of its employees.
In July, Minnesota dropped UCare from its Medicaid and Minnesota Care programs after a competitive bidding process.
The state said it could save millions of dollars by going with another company.
On Monday, UCare announced around 350 employees would be let go, about half of those were unfilled positions.
UCare will keep a staff of around 580 people for next year.
