Uber Offering Free Rides To LGBT Locations This Weekend
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As a number of LGBT bars are holding charity events this weekend in response to the mass shooting at an Orlando dance club, Uber announced they will be offering deep discounts on rides to or from them in the Twin Cities.
The cab service said that the discounts should make a number of rides totally free, and will be in effect from noon Friday until the end of the day on Monday. Users should request an uberX when they request service. Users are eligible for two free rides.
Uber also suggested donations be made to the OneOrlando Fund.
The list of bars that are eligible for the discount (which will cover up to $20 of the ride) are:
- Camp Bar
- eagleBOLTbar
- Gay 90's
- LUSH
- The Saloon
- TC Pride Family Picnic at Como Park – Sunday June 19
- Town House
- Twin Cities Leather & Latte
On Friday, Flip Phone is hosting a bar crawl to help raise money for the victims of the Orlando massacre.
The crawl will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will include stops at the 19 Bar, The Saloon, the Gay 90's, EagleBoltBar and LUSH, before wrapping up at Ginger Hop.
Proceeds from that event will go to the Equality Florida Pulse Fund.
