'U' Opens Think Tank On Islamic Law
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The University of Minnesota is opening a think tank for issues around Islamic law, human rights and the rule of law and terrorism in the Muslim world.
The new Islamic Law and Human Rights Program is part of the University of Minnesota Law School. The opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday afternoon on the Minneapolis campus.
The university says the new program will encourage new approaches to research and will engage students in several ways, including through fellowships, internships and field work.
The university says that through the Human Rights Center, students will have access to diverse groups for advice and resources, including students and human rights workers with organizations around the world.
