U of M To Recognize $15M Donor On Saturday

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The University of Minnesota has raised $65 million toward the athletic facilities campaign, roughly one-third of the original goal.

That includes a $15 million gift from David and Janis Larson announced Thursday by the university to help fund a new football performance center for offices, locker rooms and training areas. David Larson, a former Cargill executive and university regent, died last year.

The Larson family will be recognized at the men's basketball game Saturday.

Athletic director Norwood Teague announced in July 2013 the $190 million plan that also features a practice facility for the men's and women's basketball programs. The university has decided to fast-track a $150 million portion of the project, which it opened for bidding to construction companies this month.
