U Of M Considers Hosting Vikings Game
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Officials at the University of Minnesota are considering what it would take to host the Minnesota Vikings next Monday if the Metrodome roof isn't fixed.
University athletics spokesman Garry Bowman says his department has put together a preliminary budget that would pay for preparing the stadium, putting on the game then winterizing the stadium all over again.
He says TCF Bank Stadium could probably be ready, but it won't be easy.
He says there's more than 17 inches of snow on the field and there are drifts on the concourses. There's no water in most bathrooms and the rest of the pipes are filled with antifreeze.
Also, the goalposts would also have to be swapped out because the NFL posts are narrower and taller than those used in college.
