U Of M Postpones Vote To Allow Alcohol Sales At Gopher Games
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There's no word yet on whether more Golden Gopher fans can grab a beer while watching a home game next season.
On Friday, the University of Minnesota Board of Regents announced that a vote to allow alcohol sales in sports facilities throughout the Twin Cities campus has been postponed.
The proposal would allow fans to be able to buy alcoholic beverages at Williams Arena and 3M Arena at Mariucci.
Football fans already have that perk.
Officials say this proposal would bring other facilities in line with TCF Bank Stadium, which has sold beer and wine in general seating since 2012.
The proposal will be back on the table for a possible vote in June.
(Editor's note: this post has been corrected following an inaccurate press release from the University of Minnesota which indicated that the proposal was approved on Friday.)
