Tyus Jones Makes A Trip To The White House
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Timberwolves first-round draft pick and Apple Valley standout Tyus Jones spent the day at the White House in Washington, D.C.
He joined his former teammates from Duke to celebrate their NCAA championship. Duke beat Wisconsin 68-63 back in April to win the national title. The Blue Devils, led by coach Mike Krzyzewski, presented President Barack Obama with a ball and took a few pictures.
The president applauded the team for its academic and athletic accomplishments. He also gave a special shout out to Jones for being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Soon after winning the national championship, Jones announced he would be leaving Duke to put his name in the NBA Draft. The Timberwolves traded both of their second round picks to the Cleveland Cavaliers on draft night to get Jones.
