By Brendan Kearin, WCCO-AM Producer
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Timberwolves President David Kahn had plenty to talk about Tuesday afternoon, as the team gets ready for the return of basketball.
With the sounds of a spirited practice in the background, Kahn addressed many topics with WCCO Radio's Chad Hartman, including the status of the deal with free agent guard J.J. Barea.

"No, not yet," Kahn said. "There's no doubt we have interest in J.J. but we don't have anything completed yet. You'd like to have the team be as complete as possible, given the demands of this season coming up. I would say it's something we should do, or for that matter, not to do within the next 24 to 48 hours."
What about the most recognizable member of the team, Kevin Love? Kahn was asked about the status of an extension with Love.
"I had a talk with Kevin's representative, he was one of my first calls if not my first call," he said. "I do expect to be able to start talking substantially with his agent Jeff Schwartz soon. I don't want to put a timetable to it, but there is no purpose to us necessarily waiting a long time."
Kahn also had praise for the highly anticipated Ricky Rubio.
"His quickness and his ability to control the game from the point guard spot. It seemed as Coach Adelman was putting in the various plays, Ricky was always first at figuring out where people were supposed to be. At a very young age of 21, his maturity and approach to the game, how professional it is," he said.
