Two Charged In Connection With S. St. Paul Assault
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people were charged Monday in connection with the assault of a 51-year-old male in South St. Paul.
According to the Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom 22-year-old Desean Lamont Thomas, of St. Paul, was charged with one count of second degree attempted murder, one count drive-by shooting and one count possession of firearm by ineligible person. Twenty-one-year-old Breanna Sherries Harris, of St. Paul, was charged with second degree assault.
Police responded to a call reporting gunshots in South St. Paul around 11:45 p.m. August 19.
Upon arrival, the officers found a 51-year-old male, who had been shot in the hip, and a truck with a window shot out and several bullet holes.
According to police, a total of 14 spent shells were found at the scene.
During the investigation, police learned the male had recently loaned a rental car to Harris and another woman while their car was being fixed.
While attempting to find Harris and get the car back, the male was allegedly assault.
Harris and Thomas were arrested the following day.
Thomas' next court appearance has been set for 9 a.m. Sept. 2 in Hastings.
