Twins Take Plouffe Off DL; Send Herrmann Down
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have reinstated third baseman Trevor Plouffe from the disabled list.
The move was made after Friday night's 4-0 loss to Detroit.
Plouffe has missed the last 22 games, first because of a concussion and then due to a strained left calf muscle. He played four games for Triple-A Rochester on a rehabilitation assignment this week, hitting .333 with one home run and three RBIs in 15 at-bats.
To make room on the roster, the Twins optioned backup catcher/outfielder Chris Herrmann to Rochester. Herrmann played in seven games, batting .462 with one home run and four RBIs in 13 at-bats.
