Twins Recall Tsuyoshi Nishioka From Triple-A
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have recallled infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka from Triple-A Rochester.
Nishioka played second base and batted seventh Monday night against the Cleveland Indians. He batted .284 in 84 games at Rochester.
Nishioka was a major disappointment for the Twins last season after signing a $14.5 million contract. The former batting champion in Japan broke his leg during the first week of the season and batted .226 in 68 games.
Manager Ron Gardenhire said Nishioka, who has played shortstop throughout his career, will be used at second base.
