Twins' Liriano Going On DL; Slama Recalled
DETROIT (AP) -- Minnesota left-hander Francisco Liriano is headed to the disabled list with inflammation of his throwing shoulder, less than a month after pitching a no-hitter.
The Twins announced the move Monday, saying it is retroactive to May 23. Liriano missed his last start because of the injury. Minnesota says it will recall right-handed pitcher Anthony Slama from Triple-A Rochester.
Liriano pitched a no-hitter against the Chicago White Sox on May 3, but he struggled quite a bit in April and headed to the DL with a 3-5 record and a 5.73 ERA.
Slama has gone 2-1 with a 3.70 ERA in 16 appearances for Rochester this year. He is expected to be in uniform for Tuesday night's game at Detroit.
